About us

Hi, I’m Anastasia Martinez (she/her)—a third-generation Mexican-American Latina, yoga teacher, reproductive justice organizer, and the founder of Next Chapter Bookshop Plus.

I started this bookshop because I believe stories can heal, empower, and connect us—especially when they reflect the lives of people too often left out of the mainstream. Here, you’ll find a curated collection of books centering BIPOC, queer, neurodivergent, and reproductive justice narratives, alongside handpicked wellness goodies like herbal teas, sage, palo santo, and build-your-own self-care boxes.

My journey to this work is personal. I grew up in poverty and became the first in my family to graduate high school and college. After struggling with gut health and painful periods, I turned to naturopathy, herbalism, and cycle syncing—and eventually became a certified yoga teacher and herbalism apprentice. Rest, ritual, and storytelling became essential tools in my healing, and I’m passionate about making those tools accessible to others.

In 2023, I helped enshrine abortion rights into the Ohio constitution through my work in nonprofit policy. I continue to fight for reproductive freedom while building community spaces rooted in joy, justice, and care.

Outside the bookshop, I live in Columbus with my partner and our two sweet cats. I love DIY home projects, lifting weights, teaching yoga for folks who need rest most, and helping plan events as part of the city’s Latino Heritage Month steering committee.

Thanks for being here. I hope this space helps you feel seen, supported, and reminded that rest is not a reward—it’s a right.

Welcome to your Next Chapter.

Lets grow together.
