About us

Hi, I’m Ana, the owner and curator of Next Chapter Bookshop Plus. I’m a 3rd gen Latina, I identify as queer, I have a spicy brain, and I’ve had an abortion. I’ve worn many hats – educator, policy wonk, yoga teacher, reproductive justice organizer, and herbalist in training. If you’re anything like me, you’re multifaceted and constantly growing.

I grew up loving books, but I never saw myself in the stories at mainstream bookstores. If I wanted to find books that truly represented me, I had to research, and even then, hope the store had them. Life got in the way, and my passion for reading faded.

That’s why I started Next Chapter. Here, we’ve done the work for you. We carry a curated selection of books – new and used – focused on abortion, BIPOC, neurodivergent, queer, and true wellness stories.

Our goal is to one day have a physical space where you can walk in and feel represented, surrounded by stories that reflect your intersectionality. Until then, you can find our selection online or at pop-up events. When I'm not doing yoga, reading books, or studying herbalism, you can find me yelling at my cats, Wally and Fiona, to get along.
